The Dark Underside of New Jersey Dog Breeders: Donna Roberts and Dawn Abrams' New Venture
An intrepid reader of BioJobBlog alerted me to a new venture started by Donna Roberts and Dawn Abrams. They allegedly run an operation called Groomers United (based in Shamong, NJ) and advertise on AdoptAPet.com under the same name. The reader cautions “beware of their sob stories and how they are performing a service to the community—they are actually selling older puppy mill breeders at elevated prices claiming that they are “rescuing” these dogs.” And, for all you cat lovers out there, you can also adopt rescue cats at AdoptAPet.
I wonder if Groomers United is a registered not-for-profit animal rescue organization. Maybe the State of New Jersey ought to look into it?

Look all you want, report all you want. Libby Williams of NJCAPSA knew of these pups the night they came in and since when is it a crime to help dogs in need no matter where they came from> Get your facts straight, no 501 is needed to rescue and help animals in need it is just alot of hard work, Perhaps you should try it. We had a man in Toms River bring us a litter of corgi/jack russell mixes last night. He could not afford to have his dog spayed and she got out and tangled with the jack russell down the street. Result= 8 unwanted babies. Should we kill them, MR. MINTZ? Or find them homes. We chose to find them homes just as we choose to have 6 feral cats spayed and neutered on Tuesday at our expense. You have no idea what we do because you still are mad about us not jumping when you bellowed your orders. Get used to it Mr. Mintz because we do not need your permission to help the animals.
FYI- the IDIOT who alerted you to something we have been doing for 20 years or more, very observant of you but again get it straight none and I repeat NONE of the 37 pups were older puppymill breeders. They were all under the age of 6 months and had never been bred. We used to (over 10 years ago) rescue the older breeders but there just were to many of them. These days because of people like Mr. Mintz the puppymills are putting all the older stock to sleep to avoid the backlash from the media. According to Mr. Mintz it is a crime to help these dogs, hell even Libby from NJCAPSA promised to collect on bad checks for Vera Martin, a well known Pa. puppymill. I don't see you condemning Libby Williams. I welcome the State of New Jersey to my home, I have the Burlington County Health Dept. inspect me yearly so people like you and the darling liar Laurie Pallante cannot makeup stories like you two have already done. Just what is your purpose Mr. Mintz? Do you actually think your slander and deflamation are going to stop us from helping these poor animals? Dream ON.
Donna Roberts has her facts wrong. I have no knowledge of "these pups the night they came in..." but she did advise me that she would be forming a rescue to sell her puppies. I also never "promised to collect on bad checks for Vera Martin, a well known Pa. puppymill." Roberts and one of her former associates admitted mailing to me copies of the USDA sales forms and copies of canceled NSF checks paid by another unlicensed puppy broker to two PA kennel owners. I felt the two kennel owners were as victimized as the dogs in puppy mills and I reported the unlicensed puppy broker to the PA authorities.
No Libby you are wrong and I have your email to prove it. And again why don't you put Annette's name, she is the one who got the copies. And I never said they were my puppies, We have had that rescue since 1983 and if anyone wants to call Vera Martin and ask if you offered to collect for her her name is on the Pa kennel list under Vera and Reuben Martin, Meadowlane Kennel, 526 Quarry Rd. New Holland, Pa 17557 so don't lie, Libby.. You have done enough lying about my family.. Also why are you not sending me discovery as asked? This is a violation of court procedure or do I have to file a motion? I want the copies of all your so called complaints, this is my right.
